“Simplistic Italian Restaurant – with a very Authentic Atmosphere”
OK so we were well overdue to see my Uncle & Aunty and Casa Mia was the restaurant they suggested for our catch up. ‘One of our new regular Favourites’ they said! So how could we not give it a go with that recommendation.
We had to drive some 30 Mins to get there and I was salivating the whole way thinking and hoping that it better be good, as it had been a while since I had been to an Italian Restaurant.
Upon entering the restaurant, you definitely knew you were in a little bit of Italy. The background music that they were playing though was mostly not of an Italian theme, but definitely something that appealed to me as a teenager and had the whole family humming at times. ABBA always gets the feet tapping too!
We started with the usual communal entree of Garlic Pizza Bread – It was Yumo! (With 3 pizza’s to share between the 9 of us, there was more than enough to go around).
The usual star dishes at Italian Restaurants for main meals were on the menu at very reasonable prices (Mostly all main meals were around $15 – cheap). These included Fettuccine Marinara (Uncle Neil’s favourite and how he rates his restaurants by), Spaghetti Bolognaise, Lasagna, Chicken Parmigiana (Doesn’t matter what cuisine of restaurant we go to, if this is on the menu my Dad orders it) and my favourite ‘Fettuccine Carbonarra’. Sometimes Fettuccine Carbonarra can be very dense and far too creamy, but this dish my friends was …… Just Right ! I could of licked my plate it was so nice, infact I think I did sneakily.
The only complaint of the night was my Mum saying that her Lasagne was cold inside, which would make you tend to believe that most of the meals are prepared well in advance and heated up. With how fast the meals all came out would most likely reinforce this assumption.
Regardless though, all meals were presentable, tasty and filling. That filling in fact there was no room for dessert, which is very unusual for me.
So would I go back there with my family again ? The answer would be a most likely ‘Yes’ – even if it was just to have another catch up with Uncle Neil and Aunty Leah.
